As spring continues to unfold itself this week in a most unusual way…snow, rain, sun, warmth, wind, more snow…and today sunny and warming again…I’m aware of how my own emotions have been running the identical gamut. Along with turbulent weather changes come some turbulent emotions that can be challenging. What I’ve learned, though, is that eventually it all smooths out and the season and my emotions find their groove again. I am inspired to share this poem from one of my favorite writers with you:

May you awaken to the mystery of being here and enter the quiet immensity of your own presence.
May you have joy and peace in the temple of your senses.
May you receive great encouragement when new frontiers beckon.
May you respond to the call of your gift and find the courage to follow its path.
May the flame of anger free you from falsity.
May warmth of heart keep your presence aflame and may anxiety never linger about you.
May your outer dignity mirror an inner dignity of soul.
May you take time to celebrate the quiet miracles that seek no attention.
May you be consoled in the secret symmetry of your soul.
May you experience each day as a sacred gift woven around the heart of wonder.

~ John O’Donohue

I will be preparing for Passover in the coming week, one of the holidays I adore. Passover celebrates freedom and nothing is more precious than knowing we are free from “bondage”. So many of us are in “bondage”…to our past, to our finances, to relationships, to our thoughts, to things that don’t serve us or the greater good. During this week of preparation for telling the ancient story of liberation I am conscious of how I am limiting my own freedom and have chosen to look at ways in which I can liberate myself. And while I do that I will be envisioning freedom for all people in every corner of the world.

STRETCH: Make it a priority to notice how you are limiting your freedom. Ask yourself, “How can I free myself from bondage?”; “Where am I enslaved in my life?”; “In what ways have I given my power away and how can I reclaim it?”. Celebrate your birthright to be free!
